1st case of coronavirus confirmed in Ukraine
Ukraine has confirmed its first coronavirus case in a man who recently traveled to Italy, local media reported on Tuesday.
“Yesterday I told you that there were four cases of suspicion, today this suspicion was confirmed in one person,” state-run news agency Ukrinform quoted Deputy Minister of Health Viktor Liashko as saying.
Liashko said
the man’s lab results were sent to the World Health Organization and that his ministry is communicating with those who were in contact with the man.
According to local media, a man who had recently returned from Italy was hospitalized on Feb. 29 in the infectious ward of a regional hospital in Chernivtsi Region.
Earlier in Chernivtsi Region, two more patients who had returned from Italy were hospitalized. But test results found no infection.
